How to Play
Guitar
Hi everyone,
I've set up this website to help anyone who has always
wanted to learn how to play guitar or for anyone who has
started to play a guitar and may be feeling a little lost.
Don't worry, I was once there myself way back in 1987 and
unfortunately I didn't have the luxury of the internet. Here
you'll find numerous tips and tricks to make the learning
process a lot more enjoyable.
The guitar is probably the most desired musical instrument
to learn. An acoustic guitar can be played just about anywhere.
Even electric guitars with a small portable amplifier can be
played just about anywhere. The guitar is just plain out
cool!
Seeing the reaction on the faces of friends and family
when you show them your new talent is absolutely priceless.
There are many good guitar instructional courses out there
today, and I'll be reviewing some of them here. Here is
one of the best all around courses, including some ear training
software, that can have you up and playing in no time at
all:

Learning how to play guitar is really not that hard. I
know you may be thinking the total opposite. But, once you put
in a few hours of learning the basics, you'll start to see
positive results and then you'll be hooked for life.
With the tremendous popularity of the video game, Guitar
Hero, sales of real guitars have seen a huge increase.
Well, let's set the record straight right from the
beginning. The video game and the real thing are two completely
different things.
If players of the video game would spend the same
amount of time practicing the real thing instead, they would
see positive results in a short amount of time. And, they would
still be playing the guitar years later while the video game
would be a distant memory.
There is no need to run out and buy an expensive model
because you want to make sure this is something you'll stick
with. You'll need to decide if you want an electric or an
acoustic. Here are some photos if you don't know the difference
between an electric and an acoustic:

Electric Guitar

I started out with a $200 electric guitar because I loved
the sound of the electric. I was listening to the rock bands of
the 70's & 80's, and they all played electric guitars.
Two years later I had progressed enough that I then went
and bought my first acoustic model.
The acoustic guitar is a little tougher to play due to the
strings being thicker. But, the good thing about that is if you
become good on the acoustic, you'll be even better on the
electric guitar due to your fingers being stronger.
Playing the guitar is really like anything else you would
learn, you just have to take a little time with it. You can
compare it to anything that you are good at now. Whatever
you're good at, you weren't all that good when you first
started.
So, stick around and stick with the guitar. In a few weeks
you'll be better than you are today. You'll see (and
hear) the progress you're making, as will your friends and
family. In less than a year of some good solid practicing,
you'll look back and laugh as you recall your first attempt to
make a chord. Trust me, you can learn how to play guitar if you
stay with it!
